1.What's the difference?
Polished marble has a glossy, reflective finish that enhances depth and color, creating a luxurious, mirror-like effect. Honed marble has a softer, matte or satin appearance with minimal shine, offering a natural, understated look that feels calm and architectural.
2.Why Miami homeowners choose each finish
Polished marble is ideal for formal entrances, elegant living spaces, and bright interiors where reflection is desired. Honed marble is often chosen for floors, bathrooms, and contemporary spaces where a relaxed, tactile finish is preferred.
3.Can you change the finish?
In many cases, yes. Marble can often be professionally refined from polished to honed or restored to a polished finish, but this requires specialized equipment and experience. South Florida Marble Corp. restores existing stone surfaces and does not provide installation.
Honing marble does not make it acid-resistant.
Important to know
A penetrating sealer may help reduce staining, but it does not normally prevent acid etching. Both honed and polished marble can etch. Professional evaluation is essential before changing or protecting the finish.
